Deputy Chief of Operations - Rich Broderick
The Deputy Chief of Operations oversees the day to day operations of the uniformed patrol division, the most visual faction of the police department. This position assures that officers are providing the best, most efficient service to the citizens of this community. The Deputy Chief schedules officers for their daily patrols, oversees the shift sergeants that lead the patrol shifts, and continually evaluates services being provided to improve the overall effectiveness of the police department in controlling / reducing criminal activity. This position coordinates services for special events, and adjusts staffing to address problem areas where a police presence is needed, all in the spirit of community policing.
Deputy Chief of Administration/Support Services - Shannon Swearingen
The Deputy Chief of Administration/Support Services oversees the behind-the-scenes operations of the department including the investigations division, assuring that the services provided to the citizens are of the utmost quality. The Deputy Chief provides this service by arranging ongoing training for all department officers and command staff, providing necessary equipment for them to do the job more efficiently and effectively, and overseeing the operating budget of the entire department.
This division oversees the department vehicle fleet, all officer assigned equipment, facility security and maintenance, and specialized programs.

Communications Manager - Erin Morey
The Communications Manager oversees the communications/dispatch center for the city. This division provides dispatching services in East Peoria for both police and fire, along with several smaller police and fire agencies in adjoining communities. The dispatch center is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing record keeping and information services to the police and fire departments of the city. This division handles 99% of all calls coming into both departments for services, and interacts with surrounding communities for emergency mutual aid.
Administrative Assistant to Chief of Police - Karen Yount
The Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police assists the Chief in daily record keeping, payroll, and communications with civic and business organizations. The position is staffed Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The assistant works with the City and State's Attorney's offices to schedule officers for court, assist in medical claim issues for police employees, and assure that employees are paid correctly.
Administrative Assistant to Investigations - Lisa Kelch
The administrative assistant to Investigations is responsible for record keeping, Computer Aided Dispatch entry, fingerprinting for city businessess in relation to background checks and licensing purposes, and transcribing of reports in the division. The position is also responsible for scheduling detective activities, evidence returns, and for entering and maintaining federal Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) statistics.
