Setting a course record for women, Chelsea Blaase of Monticello outran all the other women to win the overall female division of the Festival of Lights’ 28th annual FOLEPI River Trail Classic, a four-mile run on the River Trail of Illinois which occurred Nov. 25. Winning the overall men’s division was Will Cross of Upland, Calif. There were 273 entrants in this year’s race.

Blaase, 23, had a time of 21:44 minutes, earning the overall top spot for the women. Cross, 24, ran the course in 19:35 minutes.

Age group winners were:

  • Age 11-14: Women – first place, Jaylynn Riley of Pekin; second place, Lauren Filarski of Pekin; third place, Jayvian Riley of Pekin; Men – first place, Bailey Webster of East Peoria; second place, Gann Schwermin of Pekin; third place, Logan Vermillion of Pekin.
  • Age 15-19: Women – first place, Claire Myers of Washington; second place, Kiley Tate of Virginia; third place, Vecenia Leon of Beardstown; Men – first place, Brennan Guido of St. Joseph; second place, Jesse Golden of Green Valley; third place, Alex Feller of Bartonville.
  • Age 20-24: Women – first place, Jayza Riley of Pekin; second place, Lynette Mientus of Metamora; third place, Juliz Williams of Indianapolis; Men – first place, Wes Anderson of Dahinda; second place, Garrett Belden of East Peoria.
  • Age 25-29: Women – first place, Emily Wickersham of Payallup; second place, Lauren Gutgesell of Germantown Hills; third place, Amy Unziker of Morton; Men – first place, Robert Deatherage of Eureka; second place, Justin Stear of East Peoria.
  • Age 30-34: Women – first place, Melinda Jordan of Bartonville; second place, Megan Clark of Greenfield; third place, Nicole Wagenschutz of Peoria; Men – first place, Clint Wells of Normal; second place, Kent Wagenschutz of Peoria third place, Jeff Moyer of Peoria.
  • Age 35-39: Women – first place, Rachel Wells of Normal; second place, Katie Gaston of Peoria; third place, Jackie Skrobot of Kankakee; Men – first place, Guillermo Rolon of Peoria; second place, Nick Anderson of Normal; third place, Jake Norman of Pekin.
  • Age 40-44: Women – first place, Michele Guido of St. Joseph; second place, Amber Ferre of Normal; third place, Helen Cox of Roanoke; Men – first place, Gary Savage of Bloomington; second place, Andy Williams of LeRoy; third place, Darrell Meffert of Sparland.
  • Age 45-49: Women – first place, Rebecca Hug of Ft. Thomas, Ky.; second place, Brenda Shawgo of Canton; third place, Michelle Spain of Fiserville, Ky.; Men – first place, Troy Walcott of Peoria; second place, Chris Robinson of Eureka; third place, Stephen Joyner of Germantown Hills.
  • Age 50-54: Women – first place, Barb McKown of Brimfield; second place, Debbie Fisher of Manito; third place, Laura Thorne of Washington; Men – first place, Rob Cairncross of East Peoria; second place, Gregory Hug of Ft. Thomas; third place, John Riley of Pekin.
  • Age 55-59: Women – first place, Carol Pratt of Varna; second place, Jody Ramotowski of Fort Madison, Iowa; third place, D. Simmons of Peoria; Men – first place, Patrick Koerner of Bourbonnais; second place, Ken Beckler of Peoria; third place, Gene Pflederer of East Peoria.
  • Age 60-64: Women – first place, Pat Keim of East Peoria; second place, Jean Janes of Dunlap; third place, Diane Legaspi of Bartonville; Men – first place, John Watson of Pekin; second place, David Schings of Edwards; third place, Pat Gifford of Pekin.
  • Age 65-69: Women – first place, Karen Saatkamp of Washington; second place, Maribeth Bohlmann of Danvers; third place, Janis Jones of Petersburg; Men – first place, Leo Vandervlugt of Chillicothe; second place, John Malson of Germantown Hills; third place, Skip Ashcraft of Princeville.
  • Age 70-74: Men – first place, Bill Melton of Lincoln; second place, Bill Washburn of Washington; third place, Bill Holmes of Edelstein.
  • Age 75 and older: Men – first place, Jack Quinn of East Peoria.
