The Center for Prevention of Abuse's biggest fundraiser, the 29th annual Duck Race, will be at EastSide Centre for the third year, and feature 30,000 ducks floating down EastSide Drive to the main parking lot on a giant "slip-n-slide".
During the race, 30,000 rubber ducks will be put in a dump truck and driven to the top of the EastSide Drive hill. They will then be dumped onto the makeshift slip-n-slide and sprayed down the hill with a fire hose toward the EastSide Centre main parking lot. The ducks will travel more than 750 feet down the slip-n-slide before stopping at the bottom of the hill.
Family activities will begin at noon in the EastSide Centre main parking lot. Food will be available.
The ducks will race at 2 p.m.
Ducks for this year's race are on sale now. Grand prize is $5,000 and other prizes will be awarded in the form of gift cards ranging from $2,500 to $100. Money raised will fund the programs and services provided by The Center for Prevention of Abuse, which helps anyone affected by domestic violence, sexual assault or abuse, and elder abuse. The center also offers prevention education.
