Economic Development

The primary goal/objective of this division is to formulate and implement programs to increase job opportunities for residents, expand the city's tax base and increase the level of economic activity. The division is also involved with revitalizing the city's riverfront and downtown areas.

Important information for East Peoria Enterprise Zone participants:

As of Jan. 1, 2016, a new zone replaced the current East Peoria Enterprise Zone. This new zone is called the Northern Tazewell Zone and has a new application and associated materials including a map (however, the area covered by the new zone is comparable to the former one). Benefits that continue with this new zone include 100% property tax abatement on improvements upon project completion for five years and sales tax abatement on materials purchased in the State of Illinois, along with half-price building permits. Benefits that do not continue include discounted plumbing and electrical permits, as well as reduced tap-in fees. For more information, call 698-4750 or e-mail Ty Livingston.

NOTICE TO REPORT - Participants please don't forget to send in your report to the Illinois Deparment of Revenue.
