Trick-or-Treat Hours and Safety

Trick-or-treat hours in East Peoria: 5-8 p.m. Oct. 31

All trick-or-treating children should be back at their homes by the 8 p.m. curfew.

The police department advises that children should go only to homes with porch lights on in their own neighborhoods, and trick-or-treat in groups or with a responsible adult. Caution should be used when crossing streets.

Parents should know where their children are going, and make sure yards are clear of things that can be a tripping hazard such as ladders, hoses, dog leashes and flower pots.

Halloween Safety

The National Crime Prevention Council suggests:

  • Children should carry a flashlight or glow stick to improve visibility.
  • Children should wear reflective clothing to help make them more visible.
  • Costumes should not drag on the ground.
  • Trick-or-treaters should not enter a strange house or car.
  • All candy should be examined before it is eaten.

The East Peoria Police Department should be notified immediately of any suspicious or unlawful activity by calling 698-4700.
