Recycling Household Items

The following items are currently accepted in the City of East Peoria's residential curbside recycling program:

  • Metal and aluminum cans - Must be clean. May be crushed. Labels are OK.
  • Newspaper and advertising inserts
  • Cardboard - everything from large boxes to paper towel tubes. Large items should be broken down.  This also includes pressed board such as cereal, cake mix and pasta boxes.
  • Magazines - staples do not need to be removed. 
  • Junk mail - catalogs, window envelopes, etc.
  • Milk jugs, plastic detergent bottles and plastic soda bottles - must have a 1 - 7 (excluding 6) in the recycling symbol on the container. Must be clean with no lids or rings. Labels are OK.
