Government/Departments Public Works Water Department
Currently, there are no boil advisories in the City of East Peoria.
A boil order is a public health advisory that the City puts out to notify customers on what to do after water is restored. When pressure drops under 20 psi or you lose all water to your residence or business; this is required to assure no one gets any bacteria or unknown pathogens. Once water is restored to normal pressure you will immediately be under a boil order. Boil orders are in effect for up to 30 hours after water is fully restored; usually it is 24 hours after. You need to bring water to boil for at least 5 minutes. You can still do laundry and shower while boil order is in effect.
This information is available on social media via Facebook & Twitter. Also, we have our texting program and the local media that are notified as well. The City strongly recommends everyone uses our texting program. Text C548 to 36000 than you will always be on top of any main break(s) in the City. We also hand out door flyers when a main break only effects a few customers. We place those on the front doors of effected area(s) in these cases. Should you need to inquire if the boil order is still active please call the Public Works office. Use all other means available before calling to save you time.
