SPECIAL NOTICE - Parking Ban

In preparation for the coming winter snow storm, the East Peoria Public Works Department has announced a parking ban on city streets beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31. The ban will remain in effect until sometime on Tuesday.

SPECIAL NOTICE - Garbage collection as usual

For those whose garbage and curbside recycling is picked up on Monday, the collection will occur as usual on Mon., Feb. 2.

Simple measures can prevent frozen water pipes

With the predicted freezing temperatures comes the risk of having frozen water pipes. The Public Works Department has several tips for keeping the water flowing.

Homes sought for repair program

Lower income homeowners whose houses need moderate repairs or upgrades are encouraged to apply for help through the organization Rebuilding Together. The group usually selects one or two project houses in East Peoria each year and does the work at no cost to the homeowner.

Car seat checks Feb. 4

Child car seat checks will be conducted by the East Peoria Fire Department from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4 at the Central Fire Station, 201 W. Washington St. The car seat checks are free.

"Beat the Beep" on carbon monoxide alarms

Many carbon monoxide alarms are nearing the end of their lifecycle. The East Peoria Fire Department is encouraging residents to check their CO alarms as part of the national Beat the Beep campaign.
