Bike-share program comes to East Peoria

The Levee District in East Peoria is one of the stations for the new City Cycle bike-share program. The City of East Peoria and The Levee District are among the sponsors of this bike program, which allows residents and visitors to have a convenient, affordable and healthy way to get around town. The Levee District is one of the six Peoria area stations where people can use a bike for on-demand, local trips.

Farmer's Market open every Friday through September

Fresh produce, fruit, baked goods, meat, eggs, home decor and more will be available from 3 until 6 p.m. every Friday through the end of September at the East Peoria Farmer's Market. The market is located in The Levee District retail area on the pedestrian promenade near Gordman's. The market also features live music and a prize drawing on the last Friday of the month.

Car seat checks set for Aug. 2

Parents can make sure their child's car seat is correctly installed during the East Peoria Fire Department's monthly free car seat check from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2. The event will occur at the Central Fire Station, 201 W. Washington St.

Service allows residents to report issues to city officials

The city has changed to a web-based service for residents to report items ranging from overhanging trees, storm drain problems, road repairs, private property issues and more. Still known as Access East Peoria, the web-based service provides residents an additional way to connect with city departments. The service previously was available both on the city’s website and as an app for iPhone and Android devices. Beat the Beep!

The Beat the Beep campaign’s purpose is to alert residents that their CO alarms may be reaching the end of their lifecycles and should be replaced before the beeps indicating end of life. Replacing the alarm will provide residents with continuous protection against possible CO poisoning and reduce the number of false alarms received by the fire department.
