EP improves public fire protection ranking

Residents and businesses could see lower insurance premiums as a result of East Peoria improving its public protection classification for fire suppression. Insurance Services Office has rated East Peoria as Class 3, an improvement from its previous Class 5 rating.

Vendors sought for EP Farmers Market

Vendors are being sought for the 2014 East Peoria Farmers Market, which will occur on Fridays from 3 until 6:30 p.m. July 11 through Sept. 26 in The Levee District. Vendor fee is $150 by May 2 or $225 therafter for all 12 dates.

Be Prepared, Not Scared

To encourage residents to become better prepared for disaster, whether natural or man-made, the Central Illinois Public Information Officers will host the Be Prepared, Not Scared Emergency Preparedness Forum from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1 at the Stoney Creek Inn in East Peoria. The event is free and will feature speakers, displays and door prizes. The first 100 people in attendance will receive a 14-gallon tote (one per family) for making their own emergency supply kit.

Spring open burning allowed the month of April

Open burning of yard waste is allowed in the city April 1-30. Burning can occur only during daylight hours, and other rules apply as well.

Spring Clean Up Week May 5-9

Spring Clean Up Week will occur May 5-9. This special collection of junk and large items is for East Peoria residents whose garbage is picked up by the city. Certain items cannot be set out for this collection.
