RiverFront Park general parking and handicapped parking information

Wal-Mart SuperCenter allows parking in its lot for events occurring in RiverFront Park.

The East Peoria Police Department requests that people use one parking space per vehicle, and not set up lawn chairs and other accessories in the parking spaces in the Riverside Center parking lots. To accommodate as many people as possible, parking spaces must be used for vehicles, not chairs. Parking across multiple spaces or saving spaces for others is not allowed. Vehicles will be towed at the owner's expense.

Handicapped parking areas are located in the parking lot adjacent to RiverFront Park (next to River 1000 restaurant). All of these spaces are available on a first come, first served basis. Vehicles must display the proper handicapped license plate or mirror tag.

No RV or trailer parking will be allowed in the RiverFront Park parking lot. In addition, no parking of any kind will be allowed on Conference Center Drive near the Embassy Suites hotel.

All Interstate 74 ramps leading to Riverside Drive and eastbound Interstate 74 exit ramp to North Main Street (Route 116), as well as the Bob Michel Bridge, will be closed starting at 9 p.m. The fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. Additionally, Bass Pro Drive will be closed directly behind Wal-Mart starting at 4 p.m. The parking area at Bass Pro Shops will be accessible by Riverside Drive. Bass Pro Drive will remain closed until after the fireworks display is over and all pedestrians have left the park area.

No fireworks of any kind, including sparklers, are allowed in RiverFront Park. These items will be confiscated. In addition, alcohol and grills, both gas and charcoal, are not allowed in the park.

When thousands of people come to a party, there will be traffic slow-downs. Patience and humor are encouraged.

Those leaving downtown fireworks viewing areas should expect traffic delays, according to the East Peoria Police Department.

All Interstate 74 ramps leading to Riverside Drive and eastbound I-74 exit ramp to North Main Street (Route 116), as well as the Bob Michel Bridge, will be closed just prior to the fireworks display. Wal-Mart traffic may exit onto Riverside Drive via the roadway between Lowe's and Wal-Mart. Those parked at Lowe's as well as at Bass Pro Shop will be directed one way out using Riverside Drive toward West Camp Street.

For those on the Lowe’s side, all lanes of traffic will leave Riverside Drive onto West Camp Street. All Riverside Drive traffic must turn left onto West Camp Street. All traffic will be directed east on West Camp Street.

Clock Tower Drive and Spinder Drive, both in The Levee District, will be closed to southbound traffic from Camp Street at approximately 9:15 p.m.
