I n 2009, the East Peoria Festival of Lights holiday light show will mark 25 years of holiday cheer!
Although there are some pre-Festival events in early November, the Festival of Lights will officially take place Dec. 4-31, 2009.
The Festival's mascot is the wooden soldier Folepi, whose name serves as an acronym for "Festival of Lights, East Peoria, Illinois."

 Festival of Lights designated a Top 100 Event!
For the sixth time, the East Peoria Festival of Lights has been named one of the Top 100 Events in North America by the American Bus Association. The designation will be in effect through the 2009 Festival of Lights. The festival previously was designated an ABA Top 100 Event in 1993 and 2004 through 2007.
In selecting the Top 100 Events, the ABA's judges evaluated the Festival of Lights on a number of factors including the festival's broad appeal, its accessibility to motorcoaches and skill at handling large groups. Events receiving the Top 100 designation offer excellent entertainment value to both tour groups and individual travelers from around the world, according to the ABA.
