Spirit of Peoria Cruise with the Queens

The woman who will reign over the Festival of Lights will be crowned during teh Festival of Lights Queen Pageant.

Contestants must live within the East Peoria city limits, be ge 16 to 20, and single. They will be judged on poise, appearance and personality.

Entry fee is $75 and sponsors may be a business or individual. Entry forms will be available in Fall 2010.

The queen and her court will ride on a float in the Parade of Lights. The queen will also reign over all Festival of Lights events, make appearances at community events in 2011, and crown the 2011 queen.

The queen receives a prize package with gifts from local businesses, as well as a $1,000 college scholarship. The first and second runner-up also receive scholarships.

A hot served breakfast preceeds the pageant. Cost is $10 per person. Tables of 10 can be reserved. Tickets will be available in Fall 2010.

Cruise with the Queens

• Boarding at 6:30 p.m.; cruise from 7-9 p.m.

The fourth annual Cruise with the Queens will take place on board the Spirit of Peoria paddlewheeler on the Illinois River. The event features the cruise, dinner and entertainment by Prairie Folklore Theatre. Among those in attendance will be the present and past Festival of Lights queens.

Prices will be announced. Proceeds from the event go toward the queen contest scholarship fund. Advance tickets are available by calling Alice at the Spirit of Peoria, (309) 637-8000. Tickets will also be available that evening at the Spirit of Peoria dock.
