Mission Statement

The primary mission of the Human Resources Department is to:

  • Serve all city departments in recruiting and retaining the highest quality workforce.
  • Serve all employees with exceptional benefit administration and employment services. We are dedicated to promoting the efficiency and effectiveness of governmental operations by the application of sound human resource management practices and by utilizing our creativity and available resources to anticipate the needs of those we serve.

Responsibilities

The Human Resources Department is responsible for administering the City’s comprehensive employment and benefits programs, including but not limited to:

  • Compensation and benefits
  • Dental and vision insurance
  • Employee wellness
  • Equal employment opportunity
  • FMLA
  • Group health
  • Labor relations
  • Life/AD&D insurance
  • Payroll
  • Risk Management and safety
  • Strategic planning
  • Workforce planning

Employment

The City accepts applications and resumés only for employment opportunities which are vacated and posted for those seeking careers, seasonal employment, skilled, technical, or semi-skilled positions. The City requires the selected applicant pass a medical examination, including a drug screening, and a background investigation. Residency requirements are position specific.
