Trick-or-treat hours in East Peoria:
All trick-or-treating children should be back at their homes by the 8 p.m. curfew.
Advisory Notice
The police department advises that children should go only to homes with porch lights on in their own neighborhoods, and trick-or-treat in groups or with a responsible adult. Caution should be used when crossing streets.
Parents should know where their children are going, and make sure yards are clear of things that can be a tripping hazard such as ladders, hoses, dog leashes and flower pots.
Halloween Safety
The National Crime Prevention Council suggests:
- All candy should be examined before it is eaten.
- Children should carry a flashlight or glow stick to improve visibility.
- Children should wear reflective clothing to help make them more visible.
- Costumes should not drag on the ground.
- Trick-or-treaters should not enter a strange house or car.
