Due to the significant financial impact from multiple revenue sources that the City is taking as a result of COVID-19, East Peoria’s curbside recycling program is being suspended starting May 1. The suspension will be in effect through Fiscal Year 2020-21, which operates May 1, 2020 through April 30, 2021.
The program’s suspension was announced during the April 21 East Peoria City Council meeting. As these are unprecedented and challenging times for us all, the City is making some tough decisions that are necessary to continue providing essential services on behalf of the entire community.
Recycling toters can be used as garbage toters during the program’s suspension.
Those who want to recycle can take their materials to the 24-hour free recycling drop off at Area Recycling, Inc. in Pekin. Learn more about the free recycling drop off at Area Recycling.
The recycling suspension decision will be re-evaluated in the spring of 2021.
