From IDOT: Daytime lane closures on the Murray Baker Bridge will begin Monday, Oct. 22.
The closures are necessary for crews to perform a routine inspection of the bridge that carries Interstate 74 over the Illinois River. The inspection will take place Mondays through Fridays and involve one side of the bridge at a time, starting with the closure of one westbound lane Oct. 22. The inspection will then later switch to the eastbound side, closing one lane in that direction. The process is expected to last two weeks.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered.
