The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Rock Island District, Illinois Department of Natural Resources - Office of Water Resources, and Illinois State Water Survey have partnered to examine Illinois River flood risk, and are conducting elevation surveys in Tazewell County during the month of October.

A professionally license survey crew will collect first floor (front door sill) and lowest entry (window well or crawl space vent) elevations at homes and businesses in communities along the Illinois River to determine potential flood risk for these areas. To collect the necessary information, survey crews will briefly need to walk onto private property and may be seen taking photographs of the survey area. No disruption to property is anticipated and no inside access to structures is necessary to complete the work.
