Learn about Illinois' new smoke detector law

Illinois has a smoke detector law taking effect Sunday, January 1 requiring a smoke alarm with a sealed 10-year battery. You do not need to take down a presently-functioning detector, but will need to eventually replace it with the new type of detector.
